Easy Art Ideas for Home Schoolers PDF Print E-mail
By Elizabeth McPherson

A recent trend in evangelical homes is in the increasing number of families choosing to home school their children. Part of this education, sometimes required by state law, is to include a study of the Arts. While taking field trips to the museum is a great way to experience art, creating art can really stir a love for inspired self-expression.  But this can be daunting to a parent who is inexperienced in teaching such creative outlets.

I have run across a website that has created lesson plans, ready-to-go, for parents and beginners to teach and learn art.

The Incredible Art Department is a website dedicated to art. It offers complete lessons that include everything from vocabulary words to hands-on practice and projects. These lesson plans are divided by age groups: early childhood, elementary, middle school, high school, and even include undergraduate lessons. The plans are especially helpful for parents trying to meet standards for education, as they chart the specific requirements met by these lessons and units.

You don't have to be an artist to learn about and teach art thanks to websites like these. The user-friendly format makes it quick, simple, and free - something busy home school parents can appreciate. For anyone looking for free curriculum to meet government standards for education or simply to broaden a child's horizons, this website is a must! And even art newbies can enjoy the simple and helpful lessons!
