All art has been placed into time periods based on the historian’s best guess as to when it was made. Several things factor into this “educated guess.” The level of artisanship is one of the most important things we take into account. Most Americans are celebrating three holidays back to back. It starts with the Thanksgiving rush and ends with a whole new year. It’s during this time that artists can find themselves distracted and experiencing a sort of ‘artist’s block’ much like writers occasionally do. Perhaps it’s just the hustle of juggling work and holiday preparations that keeps us from exercising our talents. But like the Thanksgiving turkey on our stomachs, the holidays can push us into a state of artistic slumber. |
